Workshops delivered as part of the series Decision-Making Processes in Public Administration in Poland and Other European Union Member States in the Jean Monnet Module project National Public Administration and European Integration –  NaPu

Workshops in the application of a multi-criteria decision-making method (Analytic Hierarchy Process, AHP).

AHP is based on verbalised and then quantified opinions of experts, which proves its high usability in conditions of the fast-changing social, political and economic environment.

AHP is a decision-making theory where the structure of a given problem is presented in the form of a hierarchy.

AHP is an original, and the most-known, decision-making theory featuring a relative grading scale allowing for the prioritisation of both quantitative and qualitative criteria.

The basis for the application of the AHP method is verbal opinions of experts, sets of measurements and statistical data conditioning given decisions. Each problem’s hierarchical structure includes levels arranged from its high to low significance.

Elements (criteria, sub-criteria) are compared in pairs at each hierarchy level, thanks to which dominance of some elements over others can be determined. Elements are paired with reference to those at the level directly above. The importance of the criteria is determined by the level of importance of the alternatives.

Searching for an optimal approach to the resolution of a given decision-making issue within the AHP structure showcases the key factors determining a given problem.

Most frequently, problems are resolved using the Super Decision program.
